Class highlights

Steppin' Out provides supportive and inspiring classes for a diverse mix of dancers in a wide range of styles to honor the dancer in each of them. Our teachers are all working, professional dancers who are dedicated to educating the next generation. We have classes for students ages 3-18 and also offer a young adult danceABILITY class for students with various abilities.

Here are a few fall classes that still have a couple spots open for enrollment:

  • Tap/Ballet/Tumbling Beginning II for ages 5-7

    • Tuesdays at 4:00pm

  • Tap/Ballet/Tumbling Beginning III for ages 6-8

    • Saturdays at 11:00am

  • Jazz Intermediate I (placement required)

    • Mondays at 4:00pm

  • Contemporary Open Level for ages 7+

    • Mondays at 5:00pm

Learn more about each of these levels and styles, plus all our other offerings, on our class schedule.

Joining the waitlist

Most of our classes get completely full fairly quickly, but if a class that you are interested in is listed as full, make sure to join the waitlist. Sometimes students will shift around during the first few weeks of classes. If a spot becomes available, students will be invited to join from the waitlist.

Quick tip: invite a friend

Consider signing up for dance class with a friend! While most of our students form friendships with the dancers they end up in class with, it can also be fun to sign up for a dance class with someone you already know. This can provide convenient carpooling opportunities for families and can also be a nice way for some of our more shy dancers to feel at home in the space right away. If your friend is in the same age range, then they are probably eligible for the same classes as you. Many of our classes are "open level," meaning that anyone is invited to join no matter what kind of dance experience they've had in the past.

Observation during the first week

We look forward to seeing everyone at the studio this week—including parents and caregivers! All are welcome to stay and observe class on this first week (though staying is not required). Please remember that after the first week of class, parents and caregivers of students in levels Beginning III and above (including Open Level Contemporary) must drop off their child for class. Parents and caregivers of students in levels Beginning II and below (including Open Level Creative Movement) will be allowed to stay in the studio during class to help with shoe changes and support (staying is not required).

Dance bag checklist

As a reminder, students should wear dance attire that they can move freely in. Please note that hair should be secured up and out of the face. With this in mind, we recommend packing a dance bag each week to make sure you remember the following:

  • Dance shoes*

  • Hair ties / other hair supplies

  • Water bottle

*If you've outgrown your shoes from last year or if you are looking for your first pair, we've got you covered! We have 5 full bins of previously owned dance shoes (over 100 pairs!) that you are welcome to use. We invite you to come a few minutes early to class to look through them. If you find a pair that fits you, you can take them home and keep them in your dance bag. When you grow out of them in the future, just trade them in for a new pair.
