A note about class levels and age ranges:
All of our classes are thoughtfully designed to appropriately challenge and meet the needs of the students in the room. When deciding dancer placement, we strive to find the best fit for each dancer, recognizing that every student is an individual with their own learning style progressing at their own rate.
Some of our classes are labeled only by level, while others are labeled by both age and level:
If a class is labeled Advanced or Intermediate I, II, III, or IV, this means that students must be placed into the class. If you are new to Steppin' Out, please contact Angela to schedule a placement class.
If a class is labeled Beginning I, II, III, or IV, this means that, while ability level, experience, and learning style are still considered, age is also a factor in determining which class a student is placed in.
If a class is labeled Pre-Ballet/Tap/Tumbling or Open Level, this means that anyone can sign up for the class as long as they are within the designated age range.
The age listed for each class refers to the age that the dancer will be on September 1st, 2025.
If you are a returning student, please refer to the placement email you received from Angela, which lists the recommended class options for you.
If you are a new student, you may register for any class for which you meet the age requirement. Please consider the following:
Pre-Tap/Ballet/Tumbling, Creative Movement, and Beginning I Tap/Ballet are open to any student of the appropriate age. You can find many students who are brand new to dance in these classes.
Beginning II Tap/Ballet is typically for students with at least one to two years of previous dance experience.
Beginning III Tap/Ballet is typically for students with at least three to four years of previous dance experience.
If you are a new student age 8 or older, please contact Angela to schedule a placement class. If you are unsure of your placement or want to talk more about which level would be best for you, contact Angela before registering.
