Registration is now open for spring classes!
Happy New Year! We hope you had a restorative holiday break and we are excited to get back to our regularly scheduled classes this week at the studio (gentle reminder that our fall semester continues through the end of January).
Registration is now open for our spring classes! Our spring semester runs February 1st through May 28th and culminates in the opportunity for all students to dance onstage in our year end performance. Here's the link you've been waiting for:
Registration for spring classes
Classes fill up very quickly, so register ASAP to reserve you spot! If you are interested in joining a class but it's full by the time you go to register, make sure to join the waitlist. If a spot becomes available in the coming weeks, we will invite students from the waitlist and prorate the tuition accordingly.
More info about our spring semester:
Our end of year performances will take place on May 30th and 31st at Riordan High School Theatre.
Dancers who want to participate in these performances are allowed no more than four absences total in spring semester (February-May).
Dancers who are unable to follow this attendance policy or are unavailable for performance dates are still invited to continue in their class to learn and grow throughout the spring. They will be incorporated into performance choreography in class but will simply not participate in the shows.
Our students are not required to participate in the performance, but they are highly encouraged to. We work hard to keep our performance environment a supportive one where the top priority is that the dancers have a positive experience onstage.
Movement of the month: Balance
Balance and stability are super important elements of successful dancing. When dancers are able to balance well, they have the power to decide how and when to move out of their balance. To work on your balance at home, try the simple activity of standing on one leg. Try balancing in a variety of positions like coupé, passé, and other shapes you might know from class. There's also value in discovering your own creative or silly shapes to balance in. It can be helpful to look at yourself in a mirror or find an object across the room to focus your eyes on while balancing. To test how much control you have, challenge yourself to keep control as you leave the balance.
